100.11 - The Auschwitch Album
This Album memorializes the arrival of Hungarian Jews to Auschwitz in May of 1944.
It is the only one of its kind, and it is solely due to this album that we have a visual history of what occurred in the Auschwitz-Birchenau death camp.
The album was discovered after the war by an Auschwitz survivor, Lily Jacob, who donated it to Yad Vashem in 1980.
Now, with the aid of the Internet, it can be viewed by millions of people, anywhere in the world.
Please pass this around, to help assure that people will continue to bear witness to this evil legacy.

100.10 - Kseniya Simonova - Sand Artist
Kseniya Simonova tells stories using sand and light. This story leaves the audience awestruck. It’s both tragic and sweet. By the end there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Simonova took home the grand prize. Can’t argue with the judges on this one.
Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who just won Ukraine's version of "America's Got Talent." She uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and "sand painting" skills to interpret Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.
Here, she recounts Germany conquering Ukraine in the second world war. She brings calm, then conflict. A couple on a bench become a woman's face; a peaceful walkway becomes a conflagration; a weeping widow morphs into an obelisk for an unknown soldier. Simonova looks like some vengeful Old Testament deity as she destroys then recreates her scenes - with deft strokes, sprinkles and sweeps she keeps the narrative going. She moves the judges to tears as she subtitles the final scene "you are always near".

100.07 - Fountains of Dubai
Massive Dubai Fountain Will Be the Largest, Most Technologically Advanced Water Works of its Kind
In Dubai, they're doing things big these days. Big hotels, big palm tree islands, big wallets, and very soon, big $281 million fountains. The biggest one in the world, in fact, and it will be large enough to give the famed fountains at the Bellagio in Las Vegas an inferiority complex.
At 825 feet long, the unnamed fountain will be 25% larger than the Bellagio fountain. Powering the fountain will be pumps capable of shooting columns of water approximately 450 or so feet into the dry Middle Eastern air. A light and sound show produced by a network of 6,600 lights and 50 projectors will illuminate the burgeoning Dubai skyline at night. About 22,000 gallons of water are expected to cycle through the fountain at any given time when it is completed in 2009.

100.06 - Pelagia's Song
The idyllic beauty of Greece’s Mediterranean coast has been invaded by Italy, bringing legions of soldiers to the once tranquil island of Cephallonia. Captain Antonio Corelli (Cage), an officer with an irrepressibly jovial personality and passion for the mandolin, initially alienates a number of the villagers, including Pelagia (Cruz). The daughter of the village doctor (Hurt), Pelagia is an educated and strong-willed woman, and while at first offended by the Italian soldier’s behaviour, she slowly warms to his certain charms as they are forced to share her father’s home.
The world of the novel and later, images from the film, and the island of Cephallonia itself, all provided inspiration for the composition of this score. The music was written over a period of a year, beginning with “Pelagia’s Song”, the mandolin tune Antonio writes for Pelagia, which became a central theme in the film. Because music is so fundamental to this story, it was an intrinsic element of the shoot: from the mandolin scenes with Nicolas Cage, through the numerous dancing sequences, to La Scala and their ebullient opera society.

Justin Eric Sutton founded the Interstate Traveler Project in 1995 and published this work in 2002 and immediately began building a national and international advisory community then Incorporated in the State of Michigan in 2003.
During the year of 2002 presentations were made to City, Township, County and Multi-County Planning Organizations along with Transportation Agencies and Labor Unions all across Michigan. In 2003 the system was officially presented to the State of Michigan where after proper protocol and presentations to House and Senate Committees the House and Senate Unanimously Resolved support for the Interstate Traveler Project.

Shooting Paris in Record Detail
When panoramic photographer Arnaud Frich set out to beat the previous world record in Gigapixel imaging, he knew he'd have to shoot over 2000 images. He chose a Canon 5D Mark II (21.1 MP) with a 300 mm f4.0 with a tele converter to get 600mm /f8.0. This was mounted on a motorized panoramic head and lifted to the top of the tower at Saint Sulpice church in Paris.
The official shoot took place on September 8th, 2009 in collaboration with urban photographer Martin Loyer. They had waited for on one of those rare sunny days in Paris when the city shines as the jewel it truly is. The first shot was taken at 11.30 am, and the last at 4.30 pm. 2,346 photos later, the project was ready to undergo the painstaking processes of stitching and rendering.
A gigapixel is a thousand pixels, so Frich's view of Paris brings you 26,000 pixels of detailed imagery and officially breaking a world record. Looking out over Paris, the images were shot systematically, in 138 columns and 17 rows. Image-stitching software was provided by Kolor Autopano, a French Alps-based company. The result is such high definition that the images retain their resolution when printed over a 6,500 square foot support.
A Photographic Masterpiece of Hidden Pictures
After the initial day-long shoot, the photography team had the enormous task of harmonizing colors and stitching images into a continual, seamless rendering of Paris. There was even the responsibility of masking any privacy-sensitive areas captured on film. From licence plates to faces, these identities were blurred, leaving no chance of catching a topless rooftop sunbather.
However, there is still some treasure-hunting to be done for all the eagle-eyes out there, so zooming is encouraged. Where's Waldo fans and the like will be thrilled to discover 10 details hidden around this virtual map of France's capital.

Il Silenzio
Melissa Venema is a 13-year-old trumpeter from Amsterdam, Holland. And she is unbelievably talented. Here she plays with the world-famous Johann Strauss Orchestra.
She plays a beautiful piece called Il Silenzio. It'll sound familiar to anyone who's heard a military bugler. It shares a melody with Taps.

André Rieu grew up surrounded by music -- his father conducted the Limburg Symphony Orchestra and Leipzig Opera -- but he says he never understood the somber atmosphere at classical concerts. Now a conductor himself, he encourages his audiences to enjoy the music, which often means clapping in rhythm or waving their hands. Dashingly handsome, he leads his band while facing the audience instead of the orchestra, and of course, while playing the violin.
